Henry is a twelve-year-old seventh grader and a straight A student who is very involved in extracurricular sports, excelling at cross-country, indoor and spring track. Henry was recently chosen as "Star of the Month". All of Henry’s teachers say that he is a pleasure to have in class because of his willingness to connect current curriculum topics with his extensive family travels and summer enrichment courses. For example when studying the classification of rocks and minerals, Henry’s family encouraged him to loan his extensive rock and mineral collections to his teacher for the duration of the unit. The family also supplemented the basic rock collecting kits currently available so that each student could have their own during a field trip to a local park. Henry has been to summer space camp, creates web sites for his peers, and will take part in an Earth Watch Institute Expedition to the Dolphins and Whales of Abaco Island project. Henry will be working with other teen volunteers in collecting data on groups of resident dolphins and whales. The research focuses on coastal bottlenose dolphins, beaked whales, and sperm whales.
